For children growing up in remote, underserved areas, childhood illnesses and poor nutrition can stunt growth, jeopardizing lifelong health and productivity while increasing individual risk of diabetes and other NCDs. To overcome this challenge, the program is targeting at risk children with holistic health programs to ensure they thrive through early childhood and beyond.

It equips Community Care volunteervfor Mothers and New-born (CCMN) with the skills they need conduct home visits, provide childhood vaccinations, monitor growth and help link children to local health centers, when necessary. In addition, the program provides parents with education on pediatric nutrition and oral care, empowering them with knowledge and promoting better self-care, as well as child health and growth.

CCMNs are local mothers who have strong willingness to serve for their communities. Although they are tremendously busy to earn daily income and take care of their own family, these volunteers actively engage in community activities. Learning knowledge on health care for children motivates them to pass it on to needy people through home visits. It is a sustainable support to train local health volunteers who understand what people need, can continuously reach people in their communities and empower them to increase access to proper health care and knowledge.
