Objectives
Accelerate2030 is a global program, co-initiated by Impact Hub and UNDP, aimed at scaling the impact of successful entrepreneurial solutions tackling one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a global framework across all sectors to implement smart, innovative, and sustainable solutions for the greatest challenges facing our planet and its inhabitants, including poverty and food security. While entrepreneurs can play a major role in bringing forward solutions to the world’s increasingly complex and critical problems, it’s through enabling ecosystems and support, and especially strategic partnerships and collaborations that these high-impact solutions will reach scale.
Accelerate2030 is a multi-stakeholder program initiated by Impact Hub Geneva, with the mission to scale the impact of entrepreneurial solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
More specifically, Accelerate2030 aims to:
- Scale entrepreneurial solutions for the SDGs through identifying sustainable and effective scaling models and providing access to financing, expertise and strategic networks
- Foster strong entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems supporting the SDGs, both at the national and international level
- Promote entrepreneurship and innovation as a vehicle to tackling the Sustainable Development Goals globally.
Within this time, the programme has brought together numerous entrepreneurs, investors, UN agencies, Corporattions, consultancies, local authorities and other stakeholders around a common mission of addressing the SDGs through entrepreneurial solutions.
The global partnership with Pfizer focuses on co-developing global events, and deepening the engagement opportunities across the program, including staff engagement with the Accelerate2030 International Finalists working on SDG3.
Results and milestones
Since launch in 2016, the program has to-date been implemented in two editions, in 19 developing and emerging economies across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe, reaching 1 million people and more than 500 entrepreneurs, and engaging around 50 partners globally. Within this time, the programme has brought together numerous entrepreneurs, investors, UN agencies, multinationals, consultancies, local authorities and other stakeholders around a common mission of addressing the SDGs through entrepreneurial solutions.
In the last edition of the program, in the period between September 2017 and August 2018, only the number of markets reached by the ventures in the program went from 33 to 45. Their revenues increased by 26.7% and the total end users (beneficiaries) went from 289,000 to 601,000, presenting a growth of 108%.
All the entrepreneurs have said their ability to access funding has improved due to the Accelerate2030 program, and acknowledge that their understanding of the SDGs embedded in the program contributed to a change in mission and business strategy.
