Through its More Green strategy, Boehringer Ingelheim is working on initiatives e.g. in Kenya, Indonesia and the Philippines, to improve water quality, which will have an important knock-on effect on disease prevention (links here, here, here and here).

In addition, Boehringer Ingelheim has partnered with an NGO in Mexico (link) to provide ecological stoves in vulnerable communities to prevent smoke inhalation (which is a risk factor for COPD and other respiratory diseases) and to share knowledge, with the aim of achieving behavioural change.

As well as supporting initiatives to reduce water and air pollution, Boehringer Ingelheim is also pursuing certified carbon reduction projects and supporting biodiversity in developing countries (link; see also attachment “2020-06 Boehringer Ingelheim unavoidable carbon offsetting initiative”).
