Objectives

#TeamVaccines is a global digital media campaign to build trust and confidence in COVID-19 vaccines.

#TeamVaccines is global digital campaign launched by the biopharmaceutical industry in early 2021. At that time, the first COVID-19 vaccines were only just available, and many members of the general public and some healthcare workers had concerns and doubts about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.

The biopharmaceutical responded to one of the worst public health crises in living memory by coming together as a team, collaborating like never before to not only research and make safe and effective vaccines, but also to build confidence in COVID-19 vaccines by reassuring the general public and healthcare workers that no corners have been cut and that the vaccines meet the same rigorous standards as any other vaccines.

The campaign features videos and animated posts of real people who work within the biopharmaceutical industry who have been affected by the global pandemic in many of the same ways that everyone has – making the point they need a COVID-19 vaccine just as much as everyone else. They tell their personal stories – how they’ve had to deal with lockdown and loss, balancing children and home-schooling while also supporting family members, older adults and friends in unexpected ways – all while working to help advance science and urgently bring new vaccines into the world.

The campaign website includes personal stories from industry employees and over 35 Q&As answering questions about how COVID-19 vaccines work, the safety and efficacy of the vaccines and who should get the vaccines. #19ThingsToKnow, launched in July 2021 is an extension of #TeamVaccines, and aims to set the record straight in response to the increased global threat of false information. The campaign features a series of 19 informational messages that focus on sharing the knowledge and real-life facts about COVID-19 vaccines and the positive impact of the global vaccine roll-out in saving countless lives, reducing hospitalizations and easing the burden on frontline healthcare workers.

In 2022, #TeamVaccines aims to continue to build confidence and trust in COVID-19 vaccines and the value of vaccines in general to our society, healthcare systems and individual well-being. Through continued industry collaboration and teamwork the industry can show how science and innovation can help make the world a healthier and safer place for everyone.
