Training community health workers to support people living with cardiometabolic syndrome (including carers) in the Philippines
The program will implement a health promotion/ prevention and education program via Community Health Workers to help people and their caregivers understand cardiometabolic syndrome facets and identify lifestyle modifications, early screening, risk assessment, and treatment options to improve CV health.
The program of work will be implemented in two regions in the Philippines, with a primary focus being a health education campaign to combat risk factors for cardiometabolic syndrome and ensure better health outcomes for the community long-term. The program will implement baseline assessments of knowledge and behaviours of individuals/ caregivers. This will assist the development of awareness materials and tailored health messages that will be implemented via a community health worker-like model in up to 40,000 households, with follow-up visits implemented with relevant individuals/ households. Evaluations will be conducted of knowledge and awareness/ behaviour change after the program. Health promotion materials will be developed for broader community engagement.
