Sanofi Global Health Unit – Ordre de Malte Partnership: Awareness & screening of diabetes & hypertension in Guinea

This collaboration between Ordre de Malte and Sanofi Global Health Unit in Middle Guinea aims to address knowledge gaps in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and hypertension and alleviate financial burdens associated with managing these chronic conditions, particularly impacting the elderly and uninsured populations.

The project take place In Guinea where diabetes and hypertension have a prevalence of 2.1% and 29.9% respectively, accessibility to diagnosis and treatment remains a challenge due to factors like limited healthcare infrastructure and high costs.

Results and milestones
  • 580 Healthcare professional and Community health worker trained and equipped for screening, managing patients with diabetes and hypertension, and raising awareness among populations
  • Around 800,000 of people in villages and health centers sensitized to health issues and aware of the symptoms associated with these conditions, as well as the available treatments
  • 10 000 persons screened for diabetes or high blood pressure in 10 prefectures
